Chemical Peel Aftercare Instructions
What to expect:
It is normal to be red or pink for up to 3 days. You may look like you have a mild to moderate sunburn. Your skin may feel warm and tight. This is normal and it may subside as soon as a few hours after your treatment.
You MAY experience some mild peeling depending on the serum that was selected for your treatment.
Caring for your skin:
Gently cleanse your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser without exfoliants for at least 3 days. Always make sure to clean your hands before touching the treatment area.
DO NOT exfoliate using a cleaning brush or any facial scrub or acid based products for 2 weeks on the face or 4 weeks for the body.
DO NOT use any products that contain AHA (alpha hydroxy acids), glycolic acid, Retin-A (or other retinols), or any acne medication for 1 week.
You can resume your normal skin care regimen (as long as it doesn’t contain the above ingredients) 72 hours after your treatment.
Keep skin well hydrated by drinking at lease three 8-oz glasses of water per day.
Refrain from waxing, tanning, and using sunbeds for 3 weeks.
Avoid working out and sweating for the next 48-72 hours. No swimming for 72 hours.
If your skin becomes itchy at any time, you may use a 1% hydrocortisone cream (any brand).
Finally, use SPF 30 or higher consistently throughout the day. REAPPLY, REAPPLY, REAPPLY, for this will limit your skin from burning in the sun (even when its cloudy out or when sitting by a window). This will minimize the chance of more sun damage and discoloration.
