Sculptra Aftercare Instructions
Immediate (first 24 hours)
• Keep treated areas clean. Gently cleanse with mild soap and water; pat dry.
• Apply a cold compress for 10–15 minutes each hour as needed for swelling or
discomfort.
• Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, and heavy alcohol for
24–48 hours.
Massage protocol (important)
• Start massaging
• Technique: with clean hands, use firm, circular kneading motion over each
treated area.
• Frequency/duration: 5 minutes, 5 times per day for 5 days (or follow your
clinician’s specific instructions).
First 1–2 weeks
• Avoid facial treatments (chemical peels, laser, microneedling, intense pulsed
light) until cleared by your provider.
• Makeup may be applied after 24 hours
Possible reactions (common, expected)
• Swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, firmness, lumps or bumps, itching —
usually mild/moderate and resolve in days to weeks.
• Some firmness or nodules can occur; most respond to massage and time.
When to contact your provider (seek prompt care)
• Signs of infection: increasing redness, warmth, severe pain, pus, fever.
• New or worsening lumps that do not soften with massage, severe or persistent
pain, or any sudden change in vision, persistent numbness, or skin discoloration
that suggests compromised blood flow.
• If you develop an allergic reaction (hives, significant swelling away from
treatment sites, trouble breathing).
Follow-up and expectations
• Results develop gradually over weeks to months as collagen is stimulated.
Multiple sessions may be recommended.
